About
What Happens to the Bone the Moment You Remove a Tooth? Most clinicians know that ridge resorption happens. Far fewer know exactly why — and even fewer know how to stop it. This course changes that. 50% Bone Volume Lost within 12 months of extraction 40% Horizontal Width gone within just 6 months 4×Cost Multiplier secondary GBR vs primary preservation The Problem No One Warned You About in Dental School Every extraction creates a wound — and that wound heals in a way that is biologically optimised for speed, not for future implant placement. Bundle bone, the specialised tissue lining the alveolar socket, is tooth-dependent: the moment the tooth is gone, that bone begins to resorb. Without intervention, half of the total bone volume is gone within twelve months. The buccal plate — the thinnest, most esthetically critical bone wall — goes first. The consequence? Patients who return for implants six or twelve months later with ridges that are too narrow, too short, or too compromised for straightforward placement. Reconstructing a severely resorbed ridge costs more, takes longer, and is less predictable than preventing the resorption in the first place. Socket augmentation — performed at the time of extraction — is the single most cost-effective intervention in implant dentistry. And yet it remains underutilised. Often because clinicians were never taught the biology behind it — or a clear, evidence-based protocol for executing it. This course exists to close that gap. WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR? This course is designed for general dental practitioners and specialist dentists who: ✓ Place or plan to place dental implants in their practice ✓ Perform tooth extractions and want to protect the ridge for future treatment ✓ Have performed socket augmentation but want to refine their technique and material selection ✓ Want to integrate PRF/CGF protocols into their augmentation workflow ✓ Are interested in the current evidence base and where the field is heading
